This is a sample of our first script we wrote. We amended it to make it better, along with the amendments we made to the storyboard. This section of the script give you and idea about whats going to happen in the first few seconds of our horror film, Heidi chooses to walk through the forest as it is a quicker way of getting home.
For our preliminary task we had to film a continuity task which involved filming and editing someone opening a door, walking into a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, also there had to be short dialogue between them. For this task we had to include shot-reverse-shot, 180 degree rule and match on action.
Once we filmed, as a group we edited our preliminary using 'iMovie' and then evaluated what we thought was the positive and negatives of our film. This then helped us to realised the aspect which we need to work on for our own horror film which would therefore help us to get the best grade possible.
After evaluating our film we realised that our framing wasn't very good and off key, our angle was slightly tilted and didn't incorporate the rule of thirds. Also we found that the hand held camera work we did needed to addressed, as a lot of them shots were very shaky.
On the other hand, the positives of our preliminary task were that we done some good close-up shots and had good zoom movements, these will all become useful because when we come to film our opening we could incorporate them in.
Doing this task has allowed us to consider all the depth we need to go into when we come to our film; camera shot/movement, framing and mise en scene, we'll have to think about all these to succeed within making our horror film opening.
We presented our power point on the summary of our finding to Mr Cramb and the rest of the class. We explained how important this information is as it shows us what we should and shouldn't put into our horror film opening. At the end of the lesson Mr Cramb gave the class feedback on what we should do with our findings and this is what he suggested; he told us to compare our research to national research and to make sure that we've got representation off all age groups, which we have.
In today's lesson Mr Cramb told us what we would need to include in our portfolios and showed us a previous students to help us understand the layout and the type of content we would need to put in it. This therefore gives us an idea of the type of thing we will need include in our own.In my group we got our questionnaires back and looked at the results to see what they had shown. We then added up our results and put them into graphs to clearly show the popular answers from the not so popular. We made a power point and made a script of our results which we presented to the class on Friday.
In today's lesson Mr Cramb went over our questionnaire, he told us that we would need to tweak couple of our questions because if we wanted to receive the best results we would need to make them more specific. He also said if we did do this we would find it a lot easier to group our data from the questionnaire and find it easier to put the results into graphs etc. From this feedback we changed the areas which needed tweaked then handed out our questionnaires so that we can determine the target audience for our horror film opening.
